LT Matt Lanoue and family

Born into a family of naval officers, Lieutenant Matt Lanoue was raised in the small boating town of Annapolis, Maryland. Fully indoctrinated in the ways of crab cakes and football, he, like his father and grandfather before him, attended the United States Naval Academy. After four years by the Bay, he graduated as the Class of 2014 Salutatorian, having earned a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and completed a Trident Scholar Project entitled “Next Generation Satellite Communications: Automated Doppler Shift Compensation of PSK-31 via Software-Defined Radio”.

Following nuclear power training in Charleston, South Carolina, Lieutenant Lanoue reported to USS TEXAS (SSN 775) stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and served as the Chemical and Radiological Controls Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, Navigation Division Officer, and Ship’s Diving Officer. While aboard USS TEXAS, he completed a Western Pacific Deployment and an Eastern Pacific Deployment, highlighted by successful open-hatch mating with the Pressurized Rescue Module.

Ashore, Lieutenant Lanoue is pursuing an Electrical Engineers degree at the Naval Postgraduate School, focusing on communications, networking and cyber operations. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary, daughter, Grace, and son, Theodore. When he finds a free moment, he can be found golfing, woodworking, or brewing his own beer.
